Round 7 felt like Tasmania in full.

Goals everywhere. Momentum swings. One unbeaten run ended. Another survived.

In South Hobart, the two best sides in the competition finally collided. In the end, the defending champions found a way again.

South Hobart edged fellow unbeaten side Devonport City Strikers 3-2 in the match of the round to preserve their perfect start to the season. Rex Maddock, Devine Samuel and Nicholas Morton all scored as South Hobart passed arguably their biggest test yet.

Morton continues to set the pace across the league. His goal took the striker to 11 for the campaign already, underlining just how relentless South Hobart have looked through seven rounds.

But while South Hobart stayed perfect, the wildest game of the weekend belonged elsewhere.

Newly-promoted South East United finally celebrated their first win of the season after surviving a chaotic 6-4 showdown against fellow strugglers Launceston United.

Launceston struck first, but South East responded with three goals in 13 frantic minutes to flip the contest on its head. The game never settled from there.

That felt significant.

Not just because South East finally broke through, but because this league already feels like it can spiral into chaos at any moment.

Elsewhere, Clarence Zebras dismantled Riverside Olympic 4-0 behind a Samuel Tooze double, Glenorchy Knights edged Ulverstone SC 2-1, while Kingborough Lions United claimed the same scoreline against Launceston City.

That’s what this round showed.

South Hobart still set the standard.
Morton keeps scoring.
And Tasmania’s season is starting to open up everywhere else.
