Stirling Macedonia turn to club figure as search begins for new head coach

Stirling Macedonia appointed Dean Nicolaou as caretaker coach for the remainder of the 2026 NPL WA season following the departure of Ago Mujic.

Nicolaou will oversee the first team for the rest of the campaign while the club begin their search for a permanent head coach ahead of the 2027 season.

The appointment comes just days after Stirling confirmed they had parted ways with Mujic, bringing an end to a successful tenure that delivered silverware and memorable cup runs.

During his time in charge, Mujic guided Macedonia to the 2025 State Cup, a place in the Australia Cup Round of 32 and the 2026 Night Series title, achievements the club described as an important part of its history.

In announcing Nicolaou's appointment, Stirling confirmed a permanent coach for next season will be unveiled once its recruitment process has concluded.

"Dean will lead the First Team through the balance of the campaign as the club undertakes the process of appointing a permanent Head Coach for the 2027 season," the club said in a statement.

The club also thanked Mujic for his contribution, praising his professionalism and dedication throughout his time at Macedonia.

"We appreciate his professionalism and dedication and wish him every success in his future endeavours. He will always be welcomed as part of the Macedonia family."
