St George FC have appointed Brian Brown as their new head coach after parting ways with Raphael Marie.

A seven-game winless streak in NPL NSW prompted St George to move on from Marie, who had returned to the club this season, having earlier guided St George’s Under-20s to the 2023 League One Men’s Championship.

Experienced Scotsman Brown is the new man in the dugout heading into Round 14, stepping up from his role as coaching director.

The team are 10th in the standings - just four points outside of the top six. However, it has been seven rounds since the Saints were victorious.

Chairman Bruce Spiteri said: “We thank Raphael Marie for his time and dedication.

“Brian Brown, our Coaching Director, will step in to lead the coaching staff going forward.”

Brown, who has won Coach of the Year honours in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2010 and 2012, brings plenty of experience to the role.

The 69-year-old has previously coached the likes of Blacktown City FC, Marconi Stallions, Sutherland Sharks, Bonnyrigg White Eagles and Hills United.

St George face Blacktown this week.
