The leaders blinked and the NPL NNSW race is alive
By Sacha Pisani22 June 2026

The NPL NNSW title race received a major shake-up as Belmont Swansea United stunned league leaders Broadmeadow Magic with a dramatic 1-0 victory.
In a clash between the competition's top two sides, Andrew McGee's last-minute winner secured one of the biggest results in Belmont's recent history and ended Broadmeadow's unbeaten start to the season.
The victory moved BelSwans into second place and cut Magic's advantage at the summit to five points.
NPL VIC: You don't see 11-0 in NPL Victoria
NPL NSW: A wondergoal. A stoppage-time winner. A 16-year-old's first NPL NSW goal
NPL WA: They qualified for the Australia Cup. Then came 8 goals and late drama but a familiar face is back on top

The result was made even sweeter for Belmont given the significance of the occasion. Broadmeadow arrived knowing a win would take them a huge step closer to the premiership, only for McGee to produce the decisive moment after a tense and fiercely contested encounter.
Maitland FC strengthened their hold on a top-four position with a fourth straight victory, edging Newcastle Olympic 1-0.
Joel Thompson's third-minute goal proved enough for the Magpies, who continued their strong run of form and remain firmly in the finals picture.
Cooks Hill United and Weston Bears shared six goals in one of the matches of the round.
The Bears looked on course for victory after opening up a 3-1 lead, only for Cooks Hill to fight back. Stephen Hoyle's stoppage-time penalty completed a dramatic 3-3 draw and denied Weston what would have been an important three points.
Lambton Jaffas remained inside the top five after being held to a 1-1 draw by Adamstown Rosebud.
Taj Buck opened the scoring for the visitors before Thomas Waller equalised from a set piece as the points were shared.
Valentine FC recorded one of their most significant results of the season, coming from behind to defeat Edgeworth Eagles 2-1 and secure their first home win of the year.
Meanwhile, Kahibah FC climbed off the bottom of the table with a commanding 4-1 victory over Charlestown Azzurri.
Daniel Byrne scored twice after coming off the bench as the Rams continued their recent improvement and handed the Blues a fourth consecutive defeat.
