Bulleen Lions have turned to back-to-back promotion winners Fausto De Amicis and Fabrizio Soncin after Crisdion Krstevski’s impressive tenure came to an end for an unusual reason - a move to Denmark to continue his academic career.
Krstevski stepped into the senior job during 2026 following Iacopo La Rocca’s move to Brisbane Roar in the A-League and helped transform Bulleen’s season, overseeing a club-record six consecutive league victories and taking the Lions into the VPL1 playoffs.
But with Krstevski heading to Denmark as a postdoctoral researcher, Bulleen needed new leadership for 2027.
Their solution has taken them back to two men who already know the Veneto Club intimately.
Former Socceroo De Amicis and Soncin previously coached Bulleen’s senior and U20 sides before embarking on a remarkable two-and-a-half-year spell at Malvern City.
“We look forward to welcoming Fausto and Fab back to the club and seeing their leadership continue to drive our program upwards,” Bulleen said in a statement.

The rise was built around an attacking brand of football, with Malvern finishing as the highest-scoring team in their respective leagues during both promotion campaigns.
Now De Amicis and Soncin return to a Bulleen side that made significant strides under Krstevski in 2026.
