The fight to stay up just got a major boost for Sydney Olympic

Sydney Olympic have made another major statement in their bid to preserve their NPL NSW status, signing Filip Kurto for the remainder of the 2026 season.

The former A-League Goalkeeper of the Year arrives at Belmore with one of the most accomplished resumes in Australian football, adding invaluable experience to an Olympic side fighting to climb away from the relegation zone.

“We are thrilled to welcome him to Sydney Olympic FC,” the club said.

Kurto's career has been built on winning.

The 34-year-old claimed the Polish Ekstraklasa title with Wisla Krakow before lifting the Australia Cup twice with Macarthur FC. Individually, he was crowned A-League Goalkeeper of the Year in 2018-19, selected in the A-Leagues All Stars squad and received the Mark Viduka Medal in 2024.

His arrival is the latest sign that Sydney Olympic are determined to avoid an immediate return to the second tier.

Only days after Panagiotis Armenakas marked his club debut with a stunning goal and helped inspire a crucial victory, Olympic have now strengthened at the opposite end of the pitch by recruiting one of the most experienced goalkeepers available.

It's another significant statement from a club refusing to accept their current position.

Olympic are bottom of NPL NSW through 21 rounds, four points adrift of safety.
