The NPL QLD leaders aren't standing still. They have strengthened again
Peninsula Power have reinforced their NPL QLD title charge, signing experienced midfielder Joe Duckworth and exciting Papua New Guinea international Raymond Diho for the remainder of the 2026 campaign.
With Power sitting atop the table and chasing the first championship in the club's history after twice claiming the Premiership, the latest arrivals send another clear message to the rest of the competition.
The headline signing is Duckworth, one of Queensland football's most decorated modern players.
Across seven seasons with Lions FC, the midfielder made more than 200 appearances, scored 50 goals and collected 10 trophies, captaining one of the state's dominant clubs.
He also claimed the 2020 Golden Boot, was crowned NPL Queensland Player of the Year in 2022 and earned Team of the Season honours on three occasions.
After beginning this season with Wynnum Wolves, Duckworth now joins another title contender determined to end the year with silverware.
"The main goal is to bring some silverware back to the club," Duckworth said.
"There is still a long way to go and lots of tough games, so any way I can help or add value to that will be my goal."
Power have also secured one of Oceania's brightest emerging talents in 19-year-old Diho.
The Papua New Guinea international made his senior debut at just 17 before progressing through North Geelong Warriors, where he broke into senior football after being named the club's Under-21 Player of the Year.
A move to Melbourne Victory's academy followed before Diho signed his first professional contract with Vanuatu United, making his professional debut during the inaugural OFC Pro League earlier this year.
Now, the teenage defender joins Peninsula Power on loan for the remainder of the season.
The additions come at a pivotal stage of the campaign.
Power remain locked in a gripping title race with Lions FC, holding a three-point advantage while their rivals have a game in hand.
