Statement wins, seven-goal chaos, and finally, relief for Armadale SC.

Round 9 of NPL WA had a bit of everything.

After a brutal start to 2026, Armadale secured their first win of the season in emphatic fashion, crushing fellow strugglers Balcatta Etna 5-0.

Former Celtic and Scotland striker Leigh Griffiths may be the headline name at Armadale, but Abraham Mathet is leading the charge.

The in-form forward scored a remarkable hat-trick, all from the penalty spot, to move to seven goals for the season, just one behind the Golden Boot lead.

At the summit, Perth RedStar continued their surge via a 4-1 rout of Sorrento FC.

A fourth straight victory moved RedStar three points clear on top, while defending champions Bayswater City climbed into second after a thrilling 3-2 win over Olympic Kingsway thanks to Sean McManus’ decisive strike.

But the wildest game of the weekend belonged to Dianella White Eagles and Stirling Macedonia.

Dianella led 2-0. Stirling responded with three unanswered goals to take control.

Then came another twist.

Dianella stormed back to complete a chaotic 4-3 victory in one of the games of the NPL WA season so far.

Elsewhere, Perth Glory defeated Western Knights 3-1, while Perth Azzurri and Fremantle City shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
