Fiechtner produced a ridiculous finish from an acute angle to secure a 1-0 win over Eastern Suburbs, with the striker’s latest moment of individual quality proving the difference.

The victory carried even greater significance after league leaders Peninsula Power were held to a 0-0 draw by Wynnum Wolves, reducing their advantage to a solitary point with the Premiership race tightening.

Third-placed Moreton City Excelsior survived a remarkable fightback to edge Magic United 4-3, led by another prolific striker in Marquez Walters.

Second in the Golden Boot, Walters scored a hat-trick in 43 minutes to take his season tally to 22 goals.

Moreton City led 3-1 after 49 minutes before Magic United stormed back to level the contest by the 65th. D’Arcy Satharasinghe eventually settled the thriller with an 80th-minute winner.
