For Barber, the success represents an impressive continuation of a winning culture he already knew well.
The Manchester-born coach spent five years at Lions before being promoted to the senior job late last year, succeeding Darren Sime after a decorated six-season tenure that delivered 10 trophies to Luxury Paints Stadium.
Those were significant standards to inherit.
Barber’s response has been three trophies in his first season, with Lions still fighting on the national stage.
