Heidelberg United have made a significant statement ahead of the business end of the NPL VIC season, signing Christian Theoharous and Tass Mourdoukoutas.
The double acquisition adds proven quality, experience and winning pedigree to a Warriors side already firmly in the hunt for more silverware.
The headline arrival is Theoharous.
The former Melbourne Victory attacker returns to Victorian football after a decorated stint with Central Coast Mariners, where he was part of the club's historic treble-winning campaign in 2023-24, including AFC Cup success.
Before that, Theoharous earned a move to German powerhouse Borussia Monchengladbach after emerging as one of the brightest young talents in Australian football.
He also tasted A-League Championship success with Western United and arrives at Olympic Village with experience few players in the NPL VIC can match.
But John Anastasiadis’ Heidelberg weren't finished there.
The Warriors have also secured the services of experienced defender Tass Mourdoukoutas, adding another player with an extensive professional background.
Fresh from captaining Auckland City to the inaugural OFC Professional League title, Mourdoukoutas returns to Victorian football following a journey that has taken him through the A-League, Canada and New Zealand.
The centre-back made his A-League debut with Western Sydney Wanderers in 2018 and has since represented Australia at both Under-20 and Under-23 level.
His career has included spells with York United, Valour FC, Perth Glory and Marconi Stallions, where he featured against Heidelberg in the Australian Championship earlier this year.
Heidelberg are fourth in NPL VIC through 17 rounds - seven points behind leaders Oakleigh Cannons.
