By Sacha Pisani30 June 2026

Dandenong Thunder have embarked on one of the most significant mid-season squad overhauls in recent NPL Victoria memory, parting ways with 17 players as the club loos to revive a season that has unravelled on and off the pitch.
The Thunder confirmed the departures of Andrew Withers, Tobi Obani, Daniel Alessi, Jack Morton, Jackson Courtney-Parkins, George Mells, Wade Dekker, Joe Nyahwema, Jay Romanovski, Dylan Thomas, Hassan Jalloh, Ben Djiba, Harry Phillips, Dante Avian, Oliver Jankulovski, Kaelan Majekodunmi and Woohyeok Lee.

In a statement, the relegation-threatened Thunder thanked each player for their contribution before confirming a series of mid-season signings will be announced in the coming days.
The extraordinary clear-out comes during a difficult campaign for the Thunder.
The club parted ways with head coach Adam Piddick in May and are yet to appoint a permanent replacement, while results have left the club fighting to preserve their NPL VIC status.

Thunder sit 13th in the standings, seven points adrift of safety through 18 rounds.
Recent weeks have only intensified the pressure, with the Thunder suffering an 11-0 defeat to Avondale before falling 3-1 to title contenders Hume City.
The scale of the player departures represents a dramatic reset as the club attempt to change the course of their season heading into the final stretch.
The overhaul also arrives amid ongoing speculation surrounding the club's off-field situation, although no connection has been publicly made between those rumours and the squad changes.
For now, the focus turns to who arrives next.
