Bonnyrigg's new era ends after just 19 league matches

Bonnyrigg White Eagles are once again searching for a new beginning after parting ways with head coach Ratko Lovric, following 19 games in Football NSW League Two.

The third-tier club confirmed Lovric's departure, ending a coaching spell that began with optimism following his appointment ahead of the 2026 campaign.

Lovric arrived from Bankstown carrying more than just coaching experience.

An AFC/Football Australia A Licence holder, he also had deep ties to Bonnyrigg, having spent six years working within the club's junior program before coaching Under-20 football over the previous five seasons.

When appointing him in January, Bonnyrigg spoke of building a clear football identity, restoring the club's DNA and creating a pathway that would help return one of New South Wales' most successful clubs to where it belonged.

Six months later, that vision will continue under somebody else.

“Bonnyrigg White Eagles FC would like to sincerely thank Ratko Lovric for his dedication, hard work and commitment during his time as First Grade Coach,” a statement read.

“We appreciate his contribution to our players, our club and our community, and wish him and his family all the very best in the next chapter.

“As a club, we remain focused on the season ahead, with an announcement regarding our coaching structure to be made shortly.

“Thank you Ratko and best of luck for the future.”

The White Eagles currently sit sixth in Football NSW League Two after 19 matches. While they are 21 points adrift of runaway leaders Mounties Wanderers, they remain just four points outside adrift of second spot.

The coaching change comes during a significant period in the club's history.

After suffering relegation from League One at the end of 2025, Bonnyrigg entered this season determined to begin the climb back.

For a club that boasts six premierships and four top-flight championships, including their most recent title in 2015, expectations have always stretched far beyond the third tier.

Attention now turns to who will be entrusted with guiding one of New South Wales' proudest clubs through the remainder of the campaign and whether they can reignite Bonnyrigg's push towards an immediate return to the upper reaches of the state game.
