Home never stopped calling. Austin Ludwik is back
Gold Coast Knights have secured one of the biggest signings of the NPL QLD transfer window, bringing club captain and two-time Player of the Season Austin Ludwik back after his spell in the A-League with Brisbane Roar.
The experienced defender returns to the Croatian Sports Centre following two seasons in the professional ranks, re-joining the club where he established himself as one of the defining players of the modern NPL Queensland era.
Ludwik enjoyed a glittering first stint with the Knights, captaining the club to back-to-back Premierships and Championships, while also leading the side to a historic treble in 2023.
His influence was recognised individually, claiming the NPL Queensland Player of the Season award in both 2023 and 2024 before earning his move to Brisbane Roar.
His return comes at a significant time for the Knights, who are looking to reignite their campaign after slipping off the pace in the title race.
While the club has remained a consistent contender in recent seasons, bringing back one of their most influential leaders provides a major boost for the run home.
In announcing the signing, Gold Coast Knights described Ludwik as "a fantastic addition to our club both on and off the pitch" as they welcomed home one of the most accomplished players in the club's recent history.
The Knights are fifth in the standings after 14 games played, 12 points off the pace. However, they have two games in hand on league-leading Peninsula Power.
