Belconnen United head coach Angelo Zaris has stepped down from the NPL Capital Football club.
Zaris - a former assistant - was reappointed head coach in 2024 and the Belconnen favourite laid the foundations for a memorable promotion run the following year.
Having been relegated in 2022, the first time since joining the ACT men’s competition in 1975, Belconnen not only returned to the top flight last year but won a CPL League Championship.
Zaris’ decision comes as Belconnen sit third from bottom in the Capital Football standings, with one win from nine matches.
“BUFC wishes to sincerely thank Ange for his outstanding contribution and dedication over the past three years,” a statement read.
“Ange has played a significant role, not only in the growth and success of our Men’s and Boys’ Program but also in helping to create a true One Club environment, supporting connection between our Men’s and Women’s programs.
“On behalf of all Blue Devils, thank you Angelo for your commitment, passion, and leadership, and your positive impact on our players, coaches, and community.
“You remain a true Blue Devil, always welcome at BUFC.”
