Alex Morrison brought finals football back to Gold Coast Knights. Now he’s staying
By Sacha Pisani17 September 2026

Alex Morrison will continue the job at Gold Coast Knights after signing a new deal to remain head coach for the 2027 NPL QLD season.
Morrison returned to the Croatian Sports Centre ahead of 2026 tasked with rebuilding a Knights side that had missed finals football the previous season.
One year later, the club have seen enough to extend his stay.
Morrison guided Gold Coast back into the NPL QLD finals in his first season at the helm, while his work also earned him a nomination for the competition’s Coach of the Year award.
It continued an impressive coaching journey through South East Queensland football.
Before taking charge of the Knights, Morrison built his reputation during a hugely successful spell with Surfers Paradise Apollo, where he guided the club to four consecutive Premierships and ultimately promotion into NPL Queensland.
That record, along with his knowledge of the local football landscape, was a major reason Gold Coast turned to him when he was appointed in October 2025.
Now the relationship will continue in 2027.
